European telecoms at a Paris conference said U.S. content and search providers Apple (NMS:AAPL), Google (NMS:GOOG) and Facebook should pay fees to help upgrade telecom systems, according to Bloomberg News. France Telecom (NYSE:FTE – News), Vodafone (NMS:VOD) and Telecom Italia (NYSE:TIA – News) say it will cost billions to upgrade their networks to carry more music, video and games, and current fees won’t cover it. Canalys says European network spending will surge 28% by 2014. Apple rose 0.9%. Google edged up 0.6%.
