Activision calls for backup to help finish Modern Warfare 3 by November 2011 (Modern Warfare 2)

Call of Duty isn’t going into space just yet. The rumored futuristic take on the series has been delayed as its developer, Sledgehammer Studios, has been called in to assist Infinity Ward with finishing Modern Warfare 3 in time for a November 2011 release.

Activision’s multi-team schemes were recently revealed in the Los Angeles Times. The firing of Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zampella left Infinity Ward in a weakened state and led the two of them to EA. It’s a bit ironic that Actvision has now brought in former EA developers to help them finish their game.

Sledgehammer’s not the only team working to help IW. Activision’s FPS-house Raven is working on the multiplayer components of the high profile sequel. No word on whether this has delayed production on any of Raven’s internal titles.
